Cross-Bedded Sandstone - Dawlish Railway (S38)

Cross-Bedded Sandstone ( Aeolian / Wind deposited ) with thin beds of Breccia in the cliffs behind the
Rail Line to the east of Dawlish Railway station.
The red colour is the result of the change ,over time, of Iron minerals in the Desert Dune sand from
Limonite to Hematite( Ferric Oxide ).
