Radioactive Nodules - Littleham - 1 (S39)
Radioactive Nodules - Littleham - 1 (S39)

To the West of Budleigh Salterton as Littleham Cove is approached on the Beach.
In the Cliffs at this location is a fine group of Radioactive Vanadium - Uranium Nodules (radiation is about 10 times normal background level)
The Littleham Mudstones Formation is famous for the radioactive nodules or concretions that occur in large pale green
or cream-coloured reduction spots within the red beds.
Some of the Sandstone beds in this area have a green colour , possibly due to the Radioactive Nodules.
See Dr. Ian West's fine Web Site (see Links Page)
