A Rock Fall in 2020 at Salcombe Hill Cliff has closed access to Sidmouth East beach.
The beach can be reached at Salcombe Mouth , Weston Mouth , Branscombe.
Salcombe Hill Cliff is Red Triassic Mercia Mudstone (220 MYO)
topped unconformably by Cretaceous Upper Greensand and some Chalk with Flint on top
Dunscombe Cliffs / Weston Cliffs (Red Rocks covered with Debris and Vegitation capped by Yellow Greensand and White Chalk)
The Jurassic Rocks have eroded away leading to 'The Unconformity' between the
Triassic and much younger Cretaceous Rocks.
