Jacobs Ladder is the tall white set of steps that have been constructed to allow access to the beach below.
The Coast Path uses the Ladder to reach the Esplanade .
The Ladder (1870) was built when cliff erosion destroyed steps cut in the cliff.
The Esplanade Walkway under the cliffs dates from the 1950's. and is usable at all states of the tide.
