South Devon - Geology
Shoalstone Beach - Neptunian Dyke (S36)
This is an East - West trending Dyke standing proud of the wave cut platform.
There are younger North - South trending Dykes as well.
Joints in the Devonian Limestone (deposited about 385 Million Years Ago) , enlarged by solution ,
filled with Permo - Triassic Sand ( from 298 - 250 MYA ) and in places Calcite deposits .
