Plymouth Hoe.
The Smeaton's Tower on Plymouth Hoe.
Smeaton's Tower was the 3rd Eddystone Lighthouse , built 1756 / 9 ,
Ceased operation in 1879 , replaced by Douglass's Tower on an adjacent rock.
In 1882 the upper part of Smeaton's Tower was dismantled and rebuilt as a memorial to Smeaton
on a new base on Plymouth Hoe. Open to visitors.
