The Halliggye fogou is a complex of underground passages with corbelled walls , capped with heavy stone slabs.
It is thought to have been constructed in the 5th or 4th centuries BC and occupied for about 700 years.
The fogou was situated within an enclosure bank and ditch ( a round ), of an Iron Age farming hamlet
with four or five houses.
At the end of the passage is one of the two creep passages , which led to the now blocked original entrance
and enclosure ditch.
