To the north of the St Mawes Ferry Quay is this viewpoint.
Looking towards Flushing the village where many of the Captains of the Royal Mail Packet Ships lived.
The Packet Ships , carrying Mail and Messages , made Falmouth the information hub of the Empire for
160 years (1688-1850) , second only to London for the news of the day.
The ships used the landing at Greenbank or Custom House Quay.
From 1850 Steamships were able to reach London in all weathers.
