The Lizard Boundary Fault is exposed in the low cliff at the back of the beach.
This fault zone runs across the Lizard Peninsula from Polurrian on the south-west to Porthallow on the north-east.

Top Pic-
To the south of the fault - Hornblende Schists (once basaltic lavas on the sea floor which have been metamorphosed) .
Further to the south at Mullion Cove Serpentinite appears .

Looking past the Hornblende Schists to the north side of the bay and Devonian Slates (metamorphosed mudstone).
Some rocks of the Lizard Boundary Fault Breccia can be seen running across the beach.
