Red Cliffs
A striking 800m section of Red Cliffs between Portledge and Peppercombe - unique to North Devon .
Assumed to be of similar age to the South Devon Red Cliffs (Tor Bay - Sidmouth)
of Permian Age 'New Red Sandstone'.
The red conglomerates and sandstones might date from the Permian Period around 250 million years ago.
