The view from near The Rashleigh Mausoleum over St Catherine's Castle and the Mouth
of the Fowey Estuary to Polruan.
In the Tudor period the defences were deemed insufficient and as part of massive fortification plan
along the South coast , Henry VIII ordered the construction St Catherine’s Castle
on the cliffs overlooking the estuary entrance.
