
The engine house ( for a 30-in pumping engine) / chimney of Wheal Prosper dates from 1860.
The site is near Rinsey Car Park a few miles west of Portleven.
The Copper / tin mine operated between 1860 and 1866 extracting mainly tin with a little copper
from the 'Porthcew Lode'.
The mine was also worked between 1832 and 1849 mining mainly copper.
