message , a repetition of the morse letter S , to a receiving station at St John's Newfoundland ,
a distance of 2100 miles, on the 12/12/1901 .
Guglielmo Marconi was born in Italy 1874, the son of an Italian father and an Irish mother.
In 1896, Marconi arrived in England and took out the first patent for wireless telegraphy using radio waves
