Fernworthy Stone Circle
Fernworthy Stone Circle

Fernworthy or Froggymead as it is sometimes known, is a 20m circle of 27 granite stones
standing in a clearing within Fernworthy Forest (Forestry Commission).

In a clearing to the north of the Circle is one of the Fernworthy Stone Rows , the best row - but still a poor example ,
with about 40 stones ,
The two southern pair of rows are badly damaged - one with a battered ring cairn at its northern end and the
other marked with a cist and cairn at the other end .

Location - In Fernworthy Forest
Route - As Assycombe Row but continue passed the hut and Park at the end of the Forest road (SX 659 839).
A bridleway heads West through the Forest and passes the clearing with the Circle and Stone Row.
