The flower head of an Autumn Squill -"Scilla Autumnalis"- bulb near Lizard Point .
A locally abundant perennial plant on The Lizard where it grows on serpentine soils , close to the coast ,
especially those prone to drought .
Its delicate blue-violet flowers and very narrow grass-like leaves / purple anthers and no bracts /
growing on cliff-top grasslands / flowering August -September .
A nationally scarce species limited mainly to Devon, Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly.
