Drake's Island
A view of Drake's or St Nicholas's Island from Mount Batten.
A chapel was built on the Island and later dedicated to St. Nicholas .
In the late 1599 barracades and barracks for 300 men were built .
In 1880 a battery was built for 21 guns in an arc of stone casemates with iron shields. Privately owned since 1995.
