The main road leaves the Isle of Portland , running between the Harbour and 'The Fleet' lagoon over a man made causeway and ferry bridge.
Sea water can enter the Shallow Lagoon from the Harbour ,at ferry bridge , leading to a higher salinity at this end of 'The Fleet'.
An 18-mile long shingle barrier beach.
