In 1862 George Burt of Swanage bought 80 acres of land with the view to develop.
Durlston Castle is a mock castle
The 40 tonnes sphere - The Great Globe - was made of portland stone in a stoneyard in Greenwich .
Formed from 15 pieces of stone it shows the world in 1887
