Durlston Bay
From Durlston Head a view over Durlston Bay to Pervil Point
Durlston is a corruption of Durdlestone suggesting there was once a natural arch here.
The rocks within Durlston Bay provide the boundary between the late Jurassic and early Cretaceous periods (145 MYA) in Britain.
Small fossils found here include turtles, crocodiles, lizards, flying reptiles together with dinosaur footprints.
