On a Lower Tide an extensive Limestone Rock Platform ( named - Maple Ledge , Washing Ledge , The Flats )
with rock pools is exposed in the bay.
Hard Limestone Bands , 1 metre or less , show in the Kimmeridge Clay Cliffs ( Clay , Bituminous Clay , Oil Shale ) around the Bay .
