Chalk a White Coccolithic Limestone is the youngest of the Jurassic Coasts Rocks.
Formed at the end of the Cretaceous period in a tropical sea by a Green Algae - Coccolithophores - discarding their tiny protective shields of calcium carbonate.
Vast numbers of the shields (coccoliths) collected on the sea , compacted over time to form the White Chalk.
