
From mid C13 to the 1900's , the bodies of the deceased in the Hexworthy and Dartmeet areas
were carried to Widecombe Church.
This was a convenient boulder for Pall-Bearers to set a Coffin down , for a rest ,
half way up the very steep Dartmeet Hill.
Barely visible are incised marks on the rocks.

Location - South of the B3357 as it descends Westward down to Dartmeet.
The stone is about 50m to the south west of the first small layby down the hill.
