Holne Moor Reave (Venford Reave)

The Reave (a ancient stone boundary wall about 2.5m wide and 0.6m high) with attached enclosure ,
shows up well at this location .
It descends to O Brook , and continues to the west , a turf covered bank in most places.
The Venford Reave ( at least 7.5 Km long ) runs from south east of Venford Reservoir across Holme Moor .
An extensive parallel reave system extends northwards for several miles.
Holne Moor shows the best preserved part of a coaxial field system used by Bronze Age farmers on Dartmoor
and also shows the later historic field system which overlies many of the earlier coaxial fields.
Location : South of the Car Park at Comberstone Tor.
