A view of the Shaldon riverside properties from the shingle bank at Teignmouth .
A foot ferry runs from Shaldon beach to Teignmouth beach all the year round.
Alternatively the Teign can be crossed by the road bridge.

The ferry crossing can be traced back to 1296, with origins in Saxon times.
In those days it saved a 14 mile journey to Shaldon via Newton Abbot.
