Cholwell Brook Valley -
From 1816 the mine relied on water power .In 1868 a Cornish Beam Engine House was built to pump water ,
wind and crush the ore.
The mine worked a N-S silver-lead lode , producing lead, copper, silver, arsenic and zinc and was known
variously as Prince Arthur Consols, North Wheal Friendship and Wheal Betsy.
It closed down in 1877 when low lead prices made it uneconomic .
