A commercial daffodil field overlooking Loe Bar / Pool
For cut flowers the fields are picked by hand many times to ensure all the flowers are harvested at the right time.
The daffodils are allowed to wilt and die off , left in the ground for 2 or 3 years, then lifted and graded.
Part of the crop is re-planted and the balance sold as dry bulbs ,
Cornwall is the world’s largest producer of daffodils growing over 30 million tonnes of bulbs each year.
