Trethevy Quoit - Portal Dolmen - 1
Trethevy Quoit - Portal Dolmen - 1

A Neolithic Dolmen (3500-3000BC).
A Capstone of 20 tonnes , now supported by 5 stones - one stone , the rear slab has fallen into
the chamber leaving the Capstone tilting more steeply.
From this view a small Forecourt / Antechamber , to the front , would have been formed by 2 slabs ,
one remains.
Why there is a hole in the Capstone is a mystery .
The whole structure stands 2.7 metres high and was probably originally covered by a mound or cairn of stones.
