A 300ft China Clay spoil heap , known as the Great Treverbyn Sky Tip.
The waste in the tips is mainly sand with micaceous residue , rock and overburden.
China Clay - Kaolinite was formed from the hydrothermal alteration and weathering
of Feldspars in the Cornish Granite.
After the 1969 Aberfan disaster most of the sky tips were levelled.
