Raised Beach deposits in the cliffs at the back of Spit Beach, formed about 120,000 years ago
when sea levels were 5 - 8m higher than present.
The Horizontally deposited gravels have vertical elements ( Ice Wedge) formed when stones dropped into cracks
formed by the contraction of ice-logged subsoil under cold permafrost conditions.
