Tregantle Fort overlooks a fine sandy beach .
When the Tregantle firing ranges are not in use a path which runs in front of the Fort can be used .
A path to the beach can also be used.
Otherwise the Path runs alongside the B3247.

From Tregantle the Coast Path tracks the Military Road which runs from the Tregantle Fort to Polhawn Battery.

The fort was one of the Palmerston Follies , built 1858/66 to defend Plymouth Dockyard during the Napoleonic War ,
designed for 35 guns but was never properly armed , only seven 7 inch guns were ever fitted.
Now used for training.
