Cawsand Beach
Perched on the high ground is Cawsand Fort.
One of a number of forts for Plymouths defence , from 1860-3 , built on the site of a 1779 battery.
By 1885 it was fully armed with thirteen guns, including guns facing inland to defend against attack from the rear.
The fort was released by the War Department in 1926, and has been converted into residential accommodation.

The Cawsand Ferry runs daily , from Easter to the last Sunday in October ,
to the Barbican Landing Stage - Plymouth.
