Folds - Boscastle (S8)
Folds - Boscastle (S8)

Impressive folding in a rocky outcrop between Penally Hill and Penally Point - Boscastle.
Isoclinal Folds have been deformed by Zig-Zag Ruck Folds.
Rocks behave differently when subjected to the pressures of plate collision , some are able to absorb energy by Rucking up into a series of folds while other more rigid rocks tend to fracture or fault.
The rocks here are are black slates, siltstones and laminated sandstones of the Crackington Formation.
