Elvan Dyke - Wheal Coates - Chapel Porth (S14)

An Elvan (Rhyolite) Dyke runs diagonally down the cliff below Towanroath Engine House.
The mineralisation seam is below - the lode has been mined .
Either side the rocks are metasediments - sedimentary rock that has undergone changes due to heat / pressure .
Wheal Coates has numerous lodes .
At beach level is the 'Towanroath Vugga' (cave) - a natural sea cave with old mine workings
and a drainage adit at the back.
