Just before the Coast Path enters Mousehole keep a lookout for a footpath leading to the Cave.
A tricky descent to the boulder strewn beach.
The granite cave - 'The Mousehole' is pronounced ('Mowzul') and has given it's name to the Village.

Just to the south is - Point Spaniard.
On 23 July 1595, four Spanish galleys sailed on a reconnaissance mission and landed soldiers near Mousehole ,
possibly Point Spaniard.
The Spaniards ransacked and burned Mousehole and Paul.
The Galleys moved on and Newlyn and Penzance suffered a similar fate.

The Spanish Armada (1588) was not the last Armada sent against England
two more were sent in 1596 and 1597 - the fleets were scattered by storms.
