The wall of Banjo Pier and the beach at East Looe.
This distinctive Pier, which broadens into a circle at the end, has a lookout point. It acts as a seawall,
preventing the shallow river from silting up.
Created by local engineer Joseph Thomas (1838 – 1901) and built by Daniel Taylor.
It is the prototype for many other Banjo Piers around the world.
Joseph Thomas was responsible for such developments as Hannafore Road, Hannafore Estate,
the quayside in East Looe and also engineered the Liskeard Junction Railway.
