From Spit Point the Coast Path moves inland and passes the Old China Clay Drying facilities
and the extensive docks at Par.
The Docks were built in the 19th century to serve copper mines and other mineral sites
in and surrounding the Luxulyan Valley.
China Clay ( Kaolin ) later became the dominant traffic as copper working declined.
English China Clays are now part of the French Mineral Company - Imerys S.A .
The clay grades used for coated paper are now sourced from Brazil with the filler and ceramic clays
sourced from Cornwall.
Shipping of China Clay from Par ceased in 2007 , it is know transported by road to Fowey docks.
The area around the Harbour may be developed.
