Gwithian Tin Stream Works , sited on the Red River recovered tin ore lost by the mines
further upstream - Camborne / Redruth area.
The Red River catchment has been subjected to mining and mineral working for many centuries,
particularly during the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries.
Mines such as Wheal Emily were also in this area producing lead and zinc.
