In the view is Swanpool Lake (behind Swanpool Beach) an SSSI ( home to the Broyozoa - 'trembling sea mat' ! ).
A brackish lagoon - a mix of salt and freshwater.
In times past Swanpool was used as a Swannery by local landowners the Killigrews.
