The leat is crossed by the Clapper Bridge to reach Nun's Cross Farm .
The Devonport Leat was constructed in the 1790s to carry fresh drinking water from Dartmoor to Plymouth Dock
a distance of 27 miles (43 km).
Starting north of Wistman's Wood it takes a meandering path across the moor following the natural contours of the land.
The operational part of the leat now stops near the Burrator Reservoir dam.
