Smuggler’s Tunnel

The Smuggler’s Tunnel was built in the 1860s , by the 8th Lord Clifford of Chudleigh to transport
Oddicombe Limestone from Ness Beach to the Lime Kiln at the entrance to the tunnel.
The tunnel was blocked up during World War Two and a new section needed to be built when it was reopened .
