Victualling is supplying with provisions.
Since the 13th Century Plymouth has been a major naval victualling station, supplying provisions to the fleet.
The Yard was built 1825-33 on a site of 14acres , 6 reclaimed from the sea.
The Basin at North Wharf was built to hold 6 large merchants ships of the time.
With a Swivel bridge over the entrance to the basin and now used as a Marina for the redevelopment.
The building was The Mill and Bakery , capable of processing 270 thousand lbs of flour a week.

From the Ferry Landing at Admiral Hard its a short walk to the Yard.
The Coast Path now runs through the complex of Grade1 listed Naval Buildings.
