Peat Deposits - Praa Sands (S21)

Near the western end of Praa Sands are Peat Beds .
A thin layer of peat about 2000 years old , rests on a thin pebbly loam underlain by head.
The deposits probably formed in a lake behind an old dune system .
The peat was buried by advancing sand dunes but is now being exposed by the erosion.
